Car owners are well aware that the vignette is something they should always think about when they take a long road trip. This is a type of road tax, the amount of which cost is collected and used to maintain the country's road network.
Maybe when you hear the word vignette you still think about the little square sticker that sticks to the front glass of your vehicle. Active drivers know that the sticker has been replaced by an electronic vignette since 2019.
The vignette system in Bulgaria is maintained by the RIA. The electronic vignettes are purchased from the website of the "National Toll Management" or other partners of the Road Infrastructure Agency that are allowed to offer electronic vignettes.
The electronic vignette is available in several versions according to the validity period:
- Weekend vignette;
- Weekly;
- Monthly;
- Quarterly.
From the beginning of 2023, all vehicles up to 3.5 tons can use a 10% price reduction for all types of electronic vignettes.
Usually, it happens to forget until when the electronic vignette is valid. Then we start to worry about whether we can take our car out of town. There is an easy solution for this situation – checking the vignette and its expiry date.
How to check a vignette quickly and easily
Buying a vignette is very quick and most importantly – the activation happens immediately after the payment. Doesn’t matter if you buy a vignette during the week or during the weekend - the electronic vignette is activated immediately in the system.
Many people try to remember the exact activation date or write it down, but it is common just to forget this date and slip it away. If you don't want any bad surprises, it's best to keep track of the expiration date on your car vignette.
Checking of the e-vignette is very quick and easy. There are many websites where you can do it - Tollpass.bg, Vinetki.bg, Check.bgtoll.bg, Digitoll.bg are just some of the platforms developed for this purpose. You can use them in the same way. If you want to find the necessary information you need to enter two parameters - the country of registration of the vehicle and the registration number.
After entering the data, you will receive information with the following important details:
- Electronic vignette identification number;
- Vehicle class;
- Emission class;
- Start and end date of validity;
- Vignette status.
In this way, you can quickly and easily check the expiry date of your vignette and prepare to buy a new one if necessary. We advise you to check the validity of your electronic vignette before you go on a long journey. This will save you from a headache and problems with the authorities who monitor the validity of vignettes throughout the country.
